I have bought two of these now- one for work and one for personal use. They are fast and flexible and can be formatted and partitioned like any other hard drive for us on PC and/or Macintosh. The price history of this item is like a brick being thrown off an airplane. I first bought it about $70 in July and was able to get the second one for $46 in December.
Keep in mind that that 500 GB = 500 x 1,000,000,000 bytes which is actually about 465 informational GiB. This is standard marketing practice for sellers of storage devices. I wouldn't call it deceptive, but don't be fooled into thinking that your computer will give you an actual 500 formatted GB.
