The Buffalo Technology JustStore Portable Hard Drive stacks up nicely with a similar, slightly higher priced, 500GB Western Digital portable hard drive I own. I have noticed a quicker response time with the Buffalo Technology using my WDTV HD media player. I'm not impressed with the included mini USB cable though. I have had a multitude of transfer errors using the included cable. I've dealt with similar problems before using small diameter USB cables. Fortunately I have others I can use including the one that came with my WD portable hard drive. If not for this minor oversight I would give this product 4 stars. It was my main motivation for writing this review so hopefully I can help out others. I would still recommend this product. One other plus over my WD hard drive is it doesn't have a bright annoying LED light. Just a small blue one. While connected to my WDTV HD media player, the WD hard drive LED stays lit all the time even when the WDTV is in stand by. The Buffalo hard drive goes into stand by and the LED turns off.
