Sony iPod - What Happened To Walkman?

There is no doubt that the iPod is really gone very successfully in the portable storage arena. And what about the original creator of the music and the first portable device three decades ago? Sony Corporation has lost the battle with Apple? Or was it the battle for at least the competition to win? Well, the Sony still always fight to win the multimedia leadership as the world's popular portable device. Why is it, what they call the Sony "iPod."

SonyiPod

It can be a very embarrassing situation that a particular company product name is replaced with his rival company. For some of the nickname "Sony iPod" is a very disrespectful act to the original portable music player device. But some may be fighting a point.

Sony was that it marked start because his very own multi-media player device at the same time as the iPod was launched. No one really knows if this was a planned accident. But the historical event in the digital world may be a legacy of the position.

Walkman development through the years

Sony could not be easily lost in the battle. From the first time Walkman music business has succeeded, which never ceased to develop Sony, and the creation of new and exciting music devices. While the popularity of music compact discs (CDs), created the Sony Walkman or Discman CD. This unit will be smaller with the newer Walkman, theis the MiniDisc Walkman.

Especially in the early third millennium, Sony has released MD-NetMD or the network. This device extends the MiniDisc Walkman functions. This is one of the first devices, the format allows the use of personal computers in the conversion of music in ATRAC3. NetMD is one of the first devices, the USB cable used in the transmission of music files.

Then, in 2004, Sony Walkman launched another new generation of the Hi-MD Walkman. ThisWalkman version uses a gig space for music and files.

The first Sony 's attempt, like iPods is the creation of NW-HD1. This was seen as a smaller device that sounds like a better quality of produce marketed as iPods. The only downside is that they only play music in ATRAC3 format, as more people use the MP3 format.

After the NW-HD1, Sony has released the MS70D NW. This is the first Walkman-version that earned the hearts of consumers. But it was also released at the same time as the iPod. Also, this portable MP3 player is less than 400 megabytes of memory capacity.

The next Walkman has come on the market in the NW-MS90D. This version is almost similar to iPod but was very expensive that it made the public turn to Apple product. The next Walkman NW-HD3 has not do it to win the competition due to their poor design.

The NW-HD5 made it better than the earlier versions, but still, it did not win more than iPod.

Finally> Sony released the Walkman NW-A HDD series. This is only comparable with 20 gigabytes of storage capacity and EL technology iPod video. It also provides new Walkman's 20 - to 35-hour capacity. The Sony technology can also play music in different formats such as ATRAC3, WMA and MP3.

To date, Sony is still struggling to win their own iPod iPod with Sony. Who knows, maybe Sony will back in the race.
