James Jarvis was born in 1970 in London. Jarvis studied at the University of Brighton and the Royal College of Art and has worked for international clients such as Sony and Nokia. His exhibitions are one-man shows in Tokyo, Nagoya and Hiroshima. In 1998, Jarvis created the plastic toy figure "Martin" as a gift for Silas, a London-based fashion company, unwittingly help to kick-start the "Designer Toy" phenomenon.
